Shrutayudh possessed a club (given by Bhagwan Varun) which made him invincible in battles. The only condition was that the club should not be used on anyone who is not fighting; else the club will attack Shrutayudh.On the 14th day of the war, Arjun was chasing Jayadrath to avenge his son Abhimanyu's death. Shrutayudh was asked to hold Arjun at bay. Shrutayudh hurled the weapon at Bhagwan Sri Krishn and the club backfired to hit Shrutayudh
