Story of Keechak

The Pandavs chose to spend the thirteenth year of exile in disguise in the Matsya kingdom ruled by King Virat. Each of them took on a unique identity, and along with Draupadi, they assumed different roles. Keechak, the powerful army general and brother of Queen Sudeshna, became infatuated with Draupadi. He tried to molest Draupadi. She escaped and ran to King Virat’s court. Here, Keechak kicked her in everyone’s presence and humiliated Draupadi. But Bheem and Yudhisthir could not retaliate. To exact revenge for this dishonorable behaviour, Bheem and Draupadi hatched a plan and invited Keechak to the dance hall in the night. After a fierce fistfight, Bheem killed Keechak.
