Story of Eklavya

Eklavya was a general in Jarasandh's army. Eklavya was rejected by Dronacharya as a student. Eklavya kept Dronacharya's idol by his side as the Guru and practised archery. Eklavya, once, shot multiple arrows into the mouth of a dog. All the pupils of Dronacharya wre impressed by his archery skills. But when Dronacharya got to know that Eklavya had kept Dronacharya's idol without his consent, Dronacharya asked for Eklavya's right-hand thumb as Gurudakshina. Eklavya did not bat an eyelid and cut off his thumb to give his Guru the Gurudakshina.
