Story of Drupad
Drupad was the King of Panchal. He and Dronacharya studied together in Dron's father - Rishi Bharadwaj's Gurukul. Both of them were very good friends. Drupad made a promise to Dron - "When I become the king after my father, my palace shall be your home". But when Dron approached him in his time of need, Drupad refused to keep his promise. Dron felt humiliated and sought revenge from Drupad
A few years later, after teaching the Pandavs and Kauravs, Dron asked the princes to defeat and capture Drupad as Gurudakshina. Arjun led the campaign and defeated Drupad. Dron forgave Drupad and set him free. Dron gave him half of the country to rule so that they were equals.
Drupad's daughter Draupadi was the wife of Pandavs. He fought from the Pandav side and was killed by Dronacharya on the 15th Day of the Kurukshetr war.
