Story of Brihadbal
After killing Jarasandh, Yudhisthir wanted to perform the Rajsuya Yagna. The 4 Pandav brothers embarked on the Digvijay Yatra which is a prelude to the Yagna. Bheem went to conquer the kingdoms to the East of Indraprasth. Bheem defeated Brihadbal, the king of Kosala.
On the thirteenth day of the war, Brihadbal was one of the warriors who fought against Abhimanyu. Brihadbal struck Abhimanyu in the chest with a barbed arrow. Despite this injury, Abhimanyu managed to bring down Brihadbal’s flag, bow, and charioteer. Bereft of his charioteer, Brihadbal grasped a sword and shield, intending to sever the head of Abhimanyu. However, Abhimanyu pierced the heart of King Brihadbal with an arrow.
